Problematic Fridge Plumbing
Your fridge is probably one of the worst places to have a leak. These leaks tend to be slow drips, so they are not caught until the leak has become a really big problem.
In most cases you can get out of it with a scottsdale plumbing repair and maybe some minimal drywall repair but on occasion these leaks aren’t caught for years and by then you’ve got a pretty big mold problem on your hands.
How do fridge leaks occur?
Fridge leaks can occur from a number of things.
- Home installs their own fridge. Many people think it’s such a simple thing to install the ice maker line to their fridge. In most cases it is, but you need to know which fittings are better than other to use and not just what you found at your nearest home depot.
- Appliance guy installs your fridge. I don’t recommend anyone work on your plumbing but a licensed plumber. Let the appliance guy handle the appliance.
- Old plumbing. Many times as you can see in the photo attached, plumbing just needs to be replace on occasion. This picture was of the plumbing in a Scottsdale home. The line behind the fridge was an old copper line and it was kinked. Not good.
Avoiding Plumbing Problems
The simple thing to do is to pull out your fridge and look behind it to see what’s going on. You don’t have to know plumbing to see that it’s leaking or the plumbing piping is simple old and needs to be update.
The other thing you can do is to just have a plumbing handle your plumbing. They know what works, what doesn’t and the right fittings to use. It’s a small cost in comparison to a big restoration job that will involve your insurance.
