Our latest slab leak victory!
Last week our plumbing company received a call to go to a possible slab leak. Customer explained that they heard running water in the wall near their bathrooms. they explained that the slab leak seemed to stop when they shut off the water to their water heater indicating that maybe the leak was on the hot side of the water pipes.
Initially we sent one of our expert plumbers out to inspect the problem. And sure enough, as soon as the hot water was turned on, we could hear the water basically singing in the walls. Fortunately for this customer there was no actual water leaking into his home yet.
When you have a slab leak in any area of the valley, they all need to be handled the same. Here are a few tips on what to do when you think you have a slab leak…
Slab Leak Tips
- First, you need to do is call your local plumber. You can call a leak location service but plumber either do this one their own or they work with specific leak location specialist that they like using.
- Second, your plumber will basically establish if you really have a slab leak problem and if leak location is an expense you need to incur. Leak location typically eliminates cutting unnecessary holes in your drywall however there are times when you may want to skip the added fee as we will be cutting holes regardless.
- Next, we will meet with our locating service to determine exactly which line is leaking underground. Once we find the damaged line we will also locate the two ends or manifolds that we can cut into to make our slab leak repair.
- Lastly, we submit to you a hand written estimate for the repairs that we will need to make. And once you sign the agreement, the price will not change.
